2.) Work accomplished

Two years ago we got demonstrations of the water pumps performed. Our feedback on this was fantastic. Several individuals came to us asking that more safety demonstrations be performed. We were unable to attend camp for the last two years, though. We’ve asked for two fire sirens

3.) Projects on which the committee is working

We would like to continue with a yearly demonstration of the fire pumps, and look for additional avenues to make people aware of the challenges that they will face during an emergency or urgent situation.

We are hoping to see better adoption of updated fire extinguishers and uniform locations for those extinguishers, within arm’s reach of each door. The reasoning behind this is that it gives someone unfamiliar to the cabin an easy location to expect to find an extinguisher. Someone familiar with the extinguisher will have to move to an exit (greater security) to gain access to an extinguisher. Someone faced with a fire will have a ready exit at their back.

4.) Challenges ahead:

While maintaining a neutral budget impact, we’re hoping to see individual camps adapt some standardization in their equipment and response.

5.) Recommendations to the Board:

We’ve asked the Board to consider mounting a fire siren at each pump house:
